Qantas is overhauling its frequent flyer program by cutting fees and adding one million new rewards seats for a range of high-demand routes. Here's how the $25 million transformation will affect a Melbourne to Los Angeles flight:

Economy class 
* 6,200 fewer reward points required, a 6.8 per cent drop from 90,000 to 83,800
* Carrier fee reduced from $513 to $393
--
Premium economy
* 18,600 extra points required, a 12.9 per cent rise from 144,000 to 162,600
* Carrier fee reduced from $793 to $603
--
Business class
* 24,800 extra points required, a 12.9 per cent rise from 192,000 to 216,800
* Carrier fee reduced from $943 to $703
--
First class 
* 37,600 extra points required, a 11.5 per cent rise from 288,000 to 325,600
* Carrier fee reduced from $943 to $703
